The dot matrix printers that are now obsolete are:
Part Description (RPN#) AM6310D-110V-PRINTER (F55957-000) AM6310D-230V-PRINTER (D84843-000) TMS-LQ590-PRINTER (CC2825-000)
Tyco Electronics will continue to support existing dot matrix printer customers with both technical support and by stocking spare parts. However, with dot matrix printing technology being much less prevalent in recent years, this action to obsolete dot matrix printers should be viewed as a signal to encourage customers to upgrade to the more modern and flexible thermal transfer printing systems.
Thermal transfer does offer key benefits over dot matrix systems, such as:
- Faster printing
- No drying time required--print dries immediately after printing
- Improved print quality with bold sharp characters, and no print smearing
- Graphic and bar-code capabilities
- Larger selection of character fonts and sizes
- Easier storage of ink ribbons
- Colored ink ribbons available for certain Identification products
The following are our recommended thermal transfer printers:
Part Description (RPN# - Description) T
E3012M-PRINTER (CM6476-000 - High performance; 300 dpi (sold in NAMPAC only))
TE3124-PRINTER (CC9352-000 - High performance; 600 dpi)
